Teacher and Principal of the Year Finalists

Congratulations to the SBISD Teacher and Principal of the Year Finalists! You have done a great job in educating our children and we appreciate your service. Two SKY Partnership Team Members have also been selected to be a finalist! Special congratulations to Randolph Adami, Principal of Northbrook High School and Jamie Trigo Teacher at Landrum Middle School. SKY Student Highlight

Emmanuel is a 7^th grader at KIPP Courage @ Landrum Middle School. He likes KIPP because he believes his classmates and himself are treated with more respect then if they were in another program, he also really enjoys the field trips the program takes. He heard about KIPP Courage when Principal Schmidt came to his elementary school for a presentation, he applied and get accepted to the program, but would have gone to Landrum if he had not been drawn. Emmanuel participates in Performing Theater, football, and cross-country as electives. His favorite school subject is reading and his favorite book is the Alex Rider series. Emmanuel also loves soccer. Being a great competitor at video games is something quite unique about Emmanuel.

Spring Branch Visual Arts Spring Exhibit

Spring Branch ISD is hosting the SBISD Visual Arts Spring Exhibit. Several talented middle school students with the SKY Partnership have been selected to have their art work displayed at the AYAM Museum located at Westchester Academy for International Studies to celebrate Youth Art Month. The East viewings will be March 12, 24, and 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on the evening of March 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Students from KIPP Courage at Landrum Middle School and YES Prep Northbrook Middle School will be displaying their art at the show. These great students are Arinn Sullivan, Briceida Lopez, Melanie Garcia, Jose Lagunas, Jair Atzin, Angie Flores, Thanh Tran, Isaiah Elkins, Yaridka Turrubiartes, and Oasis Perez. Congratulations, we are so proud of you all!

SKY Student Highlight

Xhunaxhy is a 7^th grader attending KIPP Courage @ Landrum Middle School. She loves taking part in concert band, volleyball, and basketball in her elective periods. Xhunaxh found out about KIPP Courage at a school presentation given by Principal Schmidt, she applied, and was drawn to be enrolled in the program. Her favorite school subject is math and she loves the book The After Life and playing volleyball. Xhunaxhy believes she and her peers get more privileges than students in other programs and she appreciates that about her school. She is unique because she is great at math and never gets in trouble.

Partnership Offers Choices - Interview with SBISD Superintendent Duncan Klussmann

Spring Branch ISD's unique partnership with KIPP and YES Prep public charter schools offers students more district choice in their educational possibilities.  Students in the SKY Partnership program benefit through intense focus in the classroom and solid, proven programming, as well as, staying in their neighborhood schools and participating in co- and extracurricular activities.

YES Prep Northbrook High School Director Readies For First Year

Bryan Reed could hardly contain himself as he sat down recently for an interview in the commons area at Northbrook High School.

“I’m really excited to be leading the YES Prep high school here,” he said, unprompted, while looking around the large open area, the walls and ramps leading to the second level adorned with motivational slogans – and the Northbrook Raider, astride a black steed, setting the tone.

That YES Prep high school will be YES Prep Northbrook High School, and classes begin there this summer. The high school program represents the maturing SKY Partnership, an innovative collaboration between Spring Branch ISD, a traditional school system, with YES Prep Houston Public Schools and KIPP Houston Public Schools, the highly successful state charter schools.
